Storm Damage Restoration

When the storm hits, we're already dispatched.

24-hour response for hail, wind and ice-dam damage across Chicago, the North Shore, Waukegan and Milwaukee. Drone documentation before the adjuster arrives, emergency tarping within the day, and a claim file built to pay the job.

What we respond to

Hail, wind, ice — and the slow leaks they leave behind.

The Chicago-to-Milwaukee corridor sees six to ten insurance-triggering storm events every year. Most homeowners don't know they have damage until a ceiling stain shows up six months later. By then the insurance claim window is closing.

Our storm division exists to catch damage early, document it properly, and get the claim filed while the weather event is still on the adjuster's radar.

  • Hail — 1" and up is reportable. We chalk-circle every impact on every slope.
  • Wind — missing or lifted shingles, even without visible tear-off
  • Ice-dam — freeze-thaw damage at eaves, interior staining, fascia rot
  • Tree impact — emergency tarp, structural survey, subrogation help
  • Water intrusion — thermal imaging to find the entry point, not just the stain
  • Siding & gutter damage — often overlooked on the first adjuster visit
Response protocol

Four things we do on the first visit.

Every storm response starts the same way — so the claim file is bulletproof before we even quote the repair.

Step 1
Drone flyover
Aerial photography of every slope, field, flashing and valley. Timestamped, geotagged, stored in our cloud archive for the full claim cycle.
Step 2
Ground & interior walk
Siding, gutter, AC unit, window screen and fence-line hail marks. Interior moisture check in every ceiling bay.
Step 3
Emergency tarp if needed
Same-day tarping on active leaks. Synthetic tarp, proper batten fastening, not just staples and a prayer.
Step 4
Written loss report
Photographic report in the homeowner's name, sent to the insurer with the FNOL. Xactimate line-item estimate attached.
Detection Tools
Thermal & moisture
Infrared camera and pin moisture meter on every interior. Wet insulation shows up on IR before it shows up on the ceiling.
Archive
Cloud-stored photo record
Every storm file is kept indefinitely. If a secondary leak appears two years later, we can go back to the original documentation.
Insurance claim

We don't just repair. We document the loss.

A storm claim that pays is a claim with photos, an Xactimate estimate, a homeowner FNOL in the insurer's system, and a contractor on the roof when the adjuster shows up. We do all four, on every storm call, whether or not we end up getting the repair.

Documentation
Drone + Ground + Interior
Three-phase inspection, photo-documented. Stored in the homeowner's claim file.
Negotiation
Adjuster Meeting on the Roof
We meet your adjuster on site. We speak Xactimate. We supplement where the scope misses.

FAQ

Storm damage questions.

How do I know if my roof has hail damage?
Most hail damage isn't visible from the ground. Look for dents in AC coils, gutter aprons, and metal vents — those are the telltale indicators. The actual shingle impacts need to be inspected at deck-level. We offer free inspections and will tell you honestly if there's no damage.
How long do I have to file a storm claim?
Most Illinois and Wisconsin homeowner policies give you 12 months from the date of loss, but earlier is always better. The farther out you file, the harder it is to isolate the specific storm event as the cause.
Will a claim raise my insurance rate?
A catastrophic storm loss (hail, wind, tree impact) typically doesn't raise your rate — it's classified as an Act of God, not a liability claim. We're not insurance agents though — ask your carrier for specifics.
Do I pay a deductible?
Yes. The deductible applies to your insurance claim, not to us. Illinois law forbids contractors from waiving, rebating, or paying an insurance deductible for the homeowner. Any contractor who offers to is breaking the law.
What if the adjuster denies the claim?
We appeal. A first-round denial is common and often wrong. We supplement the initial scope with our drone imagery and Xactimate documentation, and request a reinspection. Most reinspections flip.
Do you handle commercial storm damage?
Yes. See our commercial roofing page for property manager and facility-manager storm response.
